Surf The Internet
You are reading this webpage; you already know how to use a
computer and the internet.  However, with computers as with
everything else, there is always room for improvement.  And, since
there is a generational gap, it is worth it to polish your computer
skills as much as possible in order to allow you to keep up, for
many reasons.
  • There may be classes at the local library or community
college.  Libraries are very electronically based these days
and librarians are quite skilled in using computers.  A
librarian was the person who taught me how to surf the
internet originally.  Additionally, some businesses that sell
computers also provide training tutorials at the business or
    even in your home.
  • If you have children or grandchildren, they will be thrilled to
help you get started.  However, they may need some ground
rules.  They might need to be reminded to be patient and
organized.  You may learn things at a very different pace
and in a less playful, more goal oriented way than a child
    might teach.
  • Many books are available to help you.  Some titles are
target seniors and are very "user friendly".
  • A brief internet glossary is provided here to help you learn a
few terms; a few, or many, you probably already know!

Interesting Statistic: While 60 percent of Americans age 50-64 years go online, only about 22 percent of those over
the age of 65 use the internet.

sometimes, a picture
itself will be a link-when
you click on it, it will
take to to a place
